Hempstead, NY Fred Parola, chief executive of the Town of Hempstead Industrial Development Agency (IDA), has approved three new leases at Green Acres Mall and its adjacent Green Acres Common in Valley Stream, both IDA projects.
The new leases, which include a tire store on an outparcel and an apparel retailer and optical shop in the mall, were approved by the IDA at its June 23 meeting, continues the leasing momentum being experienced at these shopping centers, both owned by Macerich Co. of Santa Monica, CA.
The new leases, which are subject to execution, are for:
• Mavis Discount Tire, to be located on an outparcel along Sunrise Hwy. The planned 10,500 s/f automotive center, will be a branch of White Plains-based Mavis Tire Supply LLC, which has 2,100 locations across 36 states, including 49 on Long Island. The new facility will have 10-12 full-time-equivalent employees with a total payroll of $820,000.
• Clique, a retailer of “street” apparel aimed at the youth culture, skateboard, hip-hop and surf scenes, The clothing emphasizes oversized graphic T-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, and sneakers. The store will occupy 4,,586 s/f in the mall and have five full-time-equivalent employees, with an estimated total annual payroll of $360.000. The chain has stores in Kings Plaza and Queens Center Mall, both owned by Macerich, and one in the Tanger Outlet Center in Deer Park.
• Fabulous Optical, which will occupy 1,810 s/f in the mall. It will have five full-time employees with an average hourly pay of $48.06. The Brooklyn-based company has other shops in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Harlem, and Co-op City in The Bronx.
“The IDA’s incentives for Green Acres Mall and the adjacent Green Acres Commons continue to pay dividends to the community through the entry of new retail concepts that attract customers, growing employment, and increased sales-tax generation,” Parola said.
