Helios Energy Systems coordinates Howard Johnson Inn solar project

Helios Energy Systems recently completed a solar energy system installation project for the Howard Johnson Inn as part of the hotel's energy efficiency upgrade. The two-story, 84-unit hotel now boasts a 25-kW solar energy system that will generate electricity for the facility, reducing its overall electricity costs and dependence on the regional utility company. Helios Energy Systems, a subsidiary of fenestration manufacturer Crystal Window & Door Systems, worked with the hotel owner to coordinate the assessment, design, equipment and installer selection for a suitable photovoltaic (PV) system to meet the building's energy needs. The Howard Johnson Inn project involved the installation of 104 solar PV panels and associated electrical hardware on the roof of the hotel to generate 25 kilowatts of electricity. "We were able to show the owner of the Howard Johnson Inn how our solar panel system would be able to save him money on his electricity bills and pay for itself in just a few years," said Andrew Lai, manager for Helios Energy Systems. Centrosolar America, the US subsidiary of CentroSolar AG of Germany, was engaged to supply the solar panels, inverters and roof rack system. Quad State Solar of Plainview, NY, certified and licensed general contractor and solar installation specialist, was engaged to install the system.
