H2M hires Murrell as senior disciple engineer and Bazigos as senior architect

New York, NY H2M architects + engineers has hired Brian Murrell, son of Norm Murrell, also known as the “M” in H2M, as a senior disciple engineer in the civil engineering department and Spyridon Bazigos as a senior architect, specializing in the real estate market and overseeing the NYC junior architects. In his new role, Murrell will be involved in a full range of site development projects. His responsibilities will range from performing initial due diligence and feasibility assessments to preparing detailed site engineering construction documents. He will also coordinate and manage multi-jurisdictional approval processes and have significant client interaction. “I’ve looked forward to working with Brian since 1989 when he was a student at Clarkson University and interned at my civil engineering firm, said Steve Hyman, H2M civil engineering division director. “We’re really excited to have Brian in our group! Having learned so much from his dad Norman, it feels good to have the Murrell family a part of the firm again.” “My father had a very successful career helping build H2M as a leading firm, Murrell said. “Instead of coming here right after I completed school, I wanted to first establish myself individually as an engineer on my own. After doing so and working with some outstanding people for the past 26 years, I was thrilled to see a good friend and mentor, Steve Hyman leading the department to such great success. I think it was the perfect time to make the transition to H2M with so many opportunities for growth and upward mobility. Having the personal connection to my father’s legacy made the decision to come to H2M easier for myself and my family. I look forward to contributing to the firm’s performance and continued growth in the future.” Murrell joins H2M with over 26 years of experience, 25 of those years with Sidney B. Bowne & Son LLP as a senior civil engineer. Murell graduated from Clarkson University with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1989. Bazigos joins H2M with 20 years of experience in architecture and project management. Prior to joining the firm, Bazigos most recently worked for Hersha Hospitality as director of capital planning and development where he was responsible for the management of hotel construction and development. Bazigos will be concentrating his efforts on project development in the five boroughs on varying hospitality projects from hotels to apartment complexes and also contributing to other projects outside the boroughs when needed. “I’m excited start a new chapter in my career as I join H2M. I anticipate great things and look forward to assisting in building up the New York City office and H2M as a whole,” Bazigos said. Bazigos graduated from the New York Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and holds a master’s of Science degree in Real Estate from New York University.
