H2M employees volunteer in Habitat for Humanity of Nassau's Group Build Day

On Saturday, June 21st, employees of Melville-based design and consulting firm H2M architects + engineers participated in Habitat for Humanity of Nassau's Group Build program. A group of H2M employees worked alongside the Habitat for Humanity construction team on the home, which had suffered extensive fire damage. Together, the group set up the scaffolding along the home's exterior and worked on the siding, sheathing and window framing. "It was very exciting to see our spirit of teamwork in a hands-on setting, especially in the capacity of giving back to our community through Habitat for Humanity," said staff engineer Ivana Nitzova, who was also H2M's team leader for this event. The volunteer work was accompanied by a $1,000 donation made by the firm to Habitat for Humanity of Nassau. Established in 1992, Habitat for Humanity of seeks to address affordable housing needs by providing simple affordable homes for hard working low income families in Nassau County.

When Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) were first part of commercial real estate risk management, it was the lenders driving this requirement. When a borrower wanted a loan on a property, banks would utilize a list of “Approved Consultants” to order the report on both refinances and purchases.
