Gorozdi of Avison Young: Benefits from CIBS

Name: Amanda Gorozdi Title: Senior Associate Company Name: Avison Young Years in Commercial Real Estate: 3 years Email: [email protected] In the last 12 months, which project, transaction, honor or accomplishment are you most proud of and why? In Mineola, NY, a very hot market right now, I was part of the team representing a long, narrow 0.6-acre plot of land right next to the LIRR Mineola train station. Our client had high expectations for us to sell the land within a short time period. Not only did we achieve this with a vigorous marketing plan and strategy, but our client ended up getting more for the property than they expected. It was incredibly rewarding to achieve and exceed our client's expectations in the face of numerous challenges. Who are three women- living or dead - that you would like to have drinks with and why? Barbara Walters: It would be fascinating to hear about her experiences interviewing people that have come from all walks of life. Mia Hamm: I grew up playing soccer and Mia Hamm was a big influence for me. She set a world record of 158 international goals, which still stands to this day; as well as having set a U.S. record of 144 career assists. Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook: I'd love the opportunity to pick her brain on how to handle business situations that women often come across in male-dominated industries. What is your favorite quote? "A business has to be involving, it has to be fun, and it has to exercise your creative instincts." - Richard Branson What social media and/or face to face networking activities do you find most beneficial professionally? Being part of the Commercial Industrial Brokerage Society has been very beneficial to me because I can bounce ideas and concerns off my peers who are also within the industry. The opportunity to learn best practices and share experiences with others in the industry has played a big role in my career.
