Glickman, Konsker, Astrachan, Riguardi and Fanuzzi of Jones Lang LaSalle represent landlord in 170,000 s/f office lease

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) has completed a new, direct lease for Edward J. Minskoff Equities Inc. with the New York Genome Center at 101 Avenue of the Americas. The non-profit organization signed a 20-year lease for 170,000 s/f of commercial office space at the class A, 428,624 s/f office tower. The building owner, Edward J. Minskoff Equities, was represented by Paul Glickman, Mitchell Konsker, and Matt Astrachan, vice chairmen; Peter Riguardi, president of JLL's New York tri-state office, and Jonathan Fanuzzi, executive vice president, all with JLL. The tenant, New York Genome Center, was represented by Barry Gosin, CEO, and Bill Harvey, associate director, with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, along with Dan Segal, president, with Orchard Real Estate Partners. "Edward J. Minskoff Equities Inc. is in the final stages of a near total renovation of 101 Avenue of the America," said Glickman. "Given its state-of-the-art infrastructure, efficient floor plates and LEED EB certification, the class A office tower was the ideal opportunity for the New York Genome Center's new headquarters space. The organization's new facility will be one of the largest genomic centers in the world, demonstrating Manhattan's evolution as a leader in science and technology." The NYGC will occupy the majority of the second floor of 101 Avenue of the Americas, along with the entire third floor through the seventh floor. The build-out for the $47 million facility is expected to be completed by mid-2013 and will include sequencing, bioinformatics and research labs; an Innovation Center to advance new technologies; and computing infrastructure to handle the processing and storage of massive amounts of new data. The space will also include a ground-floor auditorium and cafe, training facilities and administrative offices. Approximately 248,156 square feet of Class A office space on the eighth floor through the 23rd floor remains available at 101 Avenue of the Americas, which is located in the Hudson Square district between Grand and Watts streets. The building offers floor plates that range from 15,599 square feet on the eighth floor through the 22nd floor to 14,171 square feet on the 23rd floor. Edward J. Minskoff Equities completed construction of 101 Avenue of the Americas in 1992. The office tower was designed by Fox & Fowle Architects, P.C.
