Gilbane names Vlahakis as head of capital markets

Manhattan, NY Gilbane Development, a nationally recognized leader in integrated real estate development, has appointed Andreas Vlahakis as head of capital markets based out of the firm’s New York City office. Vlahakis brings experience in real estate capital markets, including a track record spanning all asset classes with a focus on ground-up multifamily and student housing investments.

As head of capital markets, Vlahakis will refine and execute Gilbane Development’s funding strategy, reporting directly to James Patchett, President and CEO of Gilbane Development. Vlahakis will help set the firm’s capital strategy and make investment decisions, develop and strengthen relationships with funding and equity partners, and lead transaction structuring and negotiations.

Prior to joining Gilbane, Vlahakis served as managing director for capital markets at Thor Equities, where he led all equity raising efforts encompassing the firm’s deals and partners. He also served as senior vice president and chief of staff at Thor Equities. Vlahakis held positions at US Property Trust as director of acquisitions, The Luzzato Company as senior associate and at Berkshire Hathaway as commercial brokerage associate. He started his career as a commercial real estate analyst at Coldwell Banker Real Estate. Vlahakis holds a Master of Science in Real Estate Investment and Finance and a Bachelor of Science in International Business and Advertising from Pepperdine University.
