Francis Cauffman Architects selected to conduct Hoboken Feasibility Study

New York, NY According to  Francis Cauffman Architects (FCA), they have been selected by the city of Hoboken, the Hoboken Public Library, Stevens Institute of Technology, and Propelify LLC to lead an innovation center feasibility study in the city. With an estimated completion of May 2020, the study will enable the city to secure further state funding for a master plan that will help breathe new life into the area. This news comes on the heels of massive redevelopment projects across the city—with plans to upgrade the city’s infrastructure and provide lasting solutions for Hoboken’s future.

The firm will work alongside East Egg Project Management (East Egg PM) to carry out a six-month-long study funded by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. The goal of the project is to understand the physical, programmatic, and policy initiatives necessary to support entrepreneurship and innovation in the city and the Hudson County region.

“We are thrilled to be a part of such an exciting study that will help to reshape the city of Hoboken,” said Steven Stainbrook, principal at FCA, “We look forward to learning more about the community and its needs. Hoboken is a city on the rise, and this project will help transform it into one of the most important cities in New Jersey.”

To help reshape the city’s urban landscape, FCA and East Egg PM will be conducting interviews with locals in order to gain an understanding of what is needed for economic development in the area. The study aims to not only identify what helps attract new residents, but also what helps the existing community thrive and supports underserved areas. In addition, the team will analyze similar innovation district infrastructures in the region as well as survey best practices from other cities to further maximize the potential for successful implementation.

FCA and its leadership have cultivated an impressive range of planning and design projects across the firm’s practice sectors of science and technology, workplace strategies, higher education, and healthcare. The team is currently working in northern New Jersey on a master plan for Seton Hall University’s School of Medicine, and on a neighborhood plan anchored by Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. The firm also recently completed the North American Headquarters for Biotrial, a French contract research firm, located in Newark’s University Heights Science Park. The University Heights Science Park district is part of the city’s urban redevelopment initiative that includes five university partners.
