Fortis Property Group and Wonder Works Construction begin to build 540West in Hell's Kitchen, a 114-unit condo building; Designed by S9, an affiliate of Perkins Eastman; Exterior/interior design handled by Meshberg Group
Fortis Property Group and Wonder Works Construction Corp. have started to build the residential development "540West," two inter-connected seven-story buildings located at 540 West 49th St. The 114-unit condominium building, which lies between 10th and 11th Aves. in the trending Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, was designed by S9, an affiliate of Perkins Eastman Architects PC. Residents are expected to move in by fall 2014.
The residences are sized from 501 to 1,625 s/f. The buildings are primarily comprised of studio, one and two-bedrooms apartments, with an additional four duplex units and a collection of 10 penthouses with private roof decks and expansive views. Each residence will include white oak floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, central air and custom built-in wardrobe and laundry closets with washer and dryer hook ups. A handful of units will also have private terraces.
"Unlike most residential buildings in the area that recently came or are coming to market, 540West is new construction. Not only will this property offer the best fixtures and the most unique amenities, but it is sure to modernize the already desirable Hell's Kitchen neighborhood," said co-developer Jonathan Landau, CEO of Fortis Property Group.
Fortis chairman Louis Kestenbaum said, "540West is the future of Hell's Kitchen. The site plan is innovative with an abundance of light, privacy and common areas. We're proud to be the developer bringing this significant project to market."
Amenities at 540West include: a 24-hour doorman; fitness center; lobby lounge with a fireplace; two landscaped roof decks; bike storage; individual storage units; a 6,000 s/f courtyard with a reflection pool; and an open-air movie theatre with lounging and dining areas. Additionally there will be a pet spa where residents can bathe and groom their animals.
"It's an exciting project in an exciting neighborhood," said co-developer Eric Brody of Wonder Works Construction Corp. "Every layout, every outdoor space is appealing, sure to attract even the most discerning buyer. Visitors to the sales office will quickly realize that every detail of quality living was carefully thought out."
The Meshberg Group is handling the interior/exterior design. Residences will include stainless steel Bertazzoni gas cooktops and wall ovens; Italian-designed custom kitchen cabinets by GeD Cucine, Liebherr refrigerators and freezers; Silverstone Quartzite countertops and backsplashes; Blomberg dishwashers; stainless steel microwaves; and under cabinet lighting. The penthouse kitchens will also have Liebherr wine coolers. The bathrooms will feature imported Italian porcelain wall and floor tile; handheld showers; oversized rain showerheads; deep soaking tubs; and custom-designed vanities.
Halstead Property Development Marketing is the exclusive marketing and sales team on the project. The sales office is open around the corner at 716 10th Ave.
