Forino of Horizon Engineering accepted into USGBC's Emerging Professionals Academy

According to Horizon Engineering Associates, LLP (HEA), Daniel Forino, LEED AP BD+C has been accepted into the application-only Emerging Professionals Leadership Academy. Created by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), this six-month program aims to provide leadership development opportunities for Emerging Professionals (EP) and to strengthen the relationship between EPs and USGBC. Forino, a member of the USGBC Long Island chapter, will receive training through webcasts, attend a three-day leadership studio in Pine Mountain, Ga., and complete a project that will support his local chapter's objectives. Beyond his work ethic, Forino was chosen based on his level of engagement with USGBC. In addition, his leadership potential and unique perspective were taken into account. At 26 years old, he has already been actively involved in over 40 LEED building projects. Commenting on why he was interested in the USGBC and the leadership academy, Forino said, "I saw how this organization brings in people from different trades and occupations to share the same interest of forwarding the green movement, which is important to me." In addition to being a part of the EP committee, he has also been an integral part of the USGBC Long Island chapter's healthcare committee. "Dan is well-deserving of this honor. He is very passionate about what he does and he works very diligently at his craft," said Michael C. English, Founder and Senior Partner of HEA. "I anticipate that this will be the first of many honors to come in the near future." As a Project Engineer at HEA, Dan is involved in all aspects of the commissioning process. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from State University of New York at Binghamton in Mechanical Engineering and is a LEED Accredited Professional with Building Design and Construction specialization.
