First Standard Construction partners with Graham Windham to raise funds

Manhattan, NY First Standard Construction was named the general contractor on the Hamilton-Holly House at 4 St. Marks Place in the East Village. A designated landmark, it was the home of Eliza Hamilton, the widow of Alexander Hamilton, from 1833 to 1842.

Since the start of the full landmark restoration project, the leadership team at First Standard were enamored with the history of the building and discovered that Eliza Hamilton established Graham Windham as the first private orphanage in NYC in honor of her husband. 212 years later, Graham Windham’s mission to support kids and families lives on. Today, Graham serves 4,500 kids and their families.

In an effort to support the community and in memory of Eliza Hamilton, First Standard is teaming with Graham Windham to give away two free tickets to see Hamilton: An American Musical on Broadway on January 17, 2019 to coincide with the expected finish date of the Hamilton-Holly House restoration project. The project includes converting the building into a rental building featuring five apartments and two common spaces.

“The folks at Graham Windham are doing terrific work to support our NYC community, it’s truly an honor that First Standard has found itself in a position to support this great organization,” said Damien Smith, CEO of First Standard Construction. Smith added, “There is so much history in the architecture of this city. When you have an opportunity to add to it, it is important to pay respect to the past, especially when you can do so by supporting the future leaders of our great city through Graham Windham.”

The raffle for two tickets to the Hamilton showing on January 17, 2019 is open to the public through December 16, 2018 with a drawing to take place on December 18, 2018.

“We are extremely appreciative of First Standard’s generosity in sponsoring a pair of tickets to help raise awareness and donations for Graham Windham,” said Jess Dannhauser, President and CEO of Graham Windham.

Most people think of St. Patrick’s Day as a fun footnote on the calendar. In construction logistics, however, it’s a full-scale operational variable — especially if your work touches major metro areas with major parades and, let’s call it what it is, enthusiastic celebrants.
