New York, NY  Robert Horowitz, president of ESCC, knows the ins and outs of the real estate industry and what it takes to design and implement an integrated security and communications system for high-end residential and commercial buildings throughout the New York area. For over thirty years, he has delivered not only installation services to clients, but design and engineering services that have become the thread to a myriad of successful integrations.  Horowitz believes firmly in being involved in all phases of a project from inception to completion, and he recognizes the importance of providing quality customer service consistently.

From a young age, Horowitz learned that superior customer service was crucial for any business to succeed. His first paying job was working as a book clerk at the Barnes & Nobles Bookstore in NYC, which taught him the value of taking care of the customer first.  Horowitz then worked at a small security firm located in the diamond district that was run by the son of one of the property owners in the neighborhood. When the business closed around 1985, he decided to take his security and customer service experience with him and put it to good use by opening up his own firm, thus Electronic Security and Communications Corporation (ESCC) was born. As a Brooklyn native, Horowitz knew that the only place to start his business was in the heart of the real estate industry – NYC.

ESCC is a leading security systems integrator that “Offers Integrated Service for Integrated Security” through a powerful combination of design/engineering and consulting, as well as equipment installation and customer support.  The company specializes in seamlessly integrating together even the most apparently disparate systems. ESCC installs security and communication technology that includes security systems, access control systems, CCTV surveillance systems, intercoms, and complete telecommunications systems.  In addition, ESCC works closely with architects, engineers and property management firms during the planning and design phase of commercial and residential projects throughout NYC. Customers receive an integrated package of engineering and consulting services, technology solutions and support that is second to none. Over the years, ESCC has worked with high profile property management companies in NYC that rely on their consulting and design expertise such as Rose Associates, Inc., an owner, developer and manager of premium residential properties. “ESCC is clearly the premiere provider of alarm, access control and communications services for large apartment buildings, and we rarely undertake a project without them,” said Adam Rose, co-president of Rose Associates, Inc.

During his career, Horowitz was able to build strong relationships with some of the top real estate management firms in NYC that enabled ESCC to design and engineer systems from a position of strength and experience.  “Our goal is to make systems that may be thought of as very complicated and make them easy to use for the average individual,” said Horowitz. “Integration of various systems is still an important component in our design that we take seriously.” Horowitz also sees the value in providing mobile access capabilities to clients for video and access control which continues to be the number one request from ESCC’s client base. With most property managers and building owners on the go, having mobile access to their security and communication systems is crucial.

Another huge focus for ESCC is the architect community.  Ismael Leyva Architects, P.C. is a NYC-based, internationally recognized, architecture, interior design, and urban planning firm that is known throughout the development and construction industry for their unique, creative, iconic and practical designs.  The firm specializes in the multifamily residential (rental/condominium) and hospitality industries. With the same vision in mind for the residential community, Horowitz has worked with the firm for over 15 years and has been instrumental in implementing over twelve construction projects in the NYC area. “Robert and the ESCC team are a pleasure to work with and are true experts in their field. They continue to bring value to our projects from the planning/design phase to completion. It’s important that every element works together as an integrated solution for our complex building structures. With the ESCC team behind us, we never have to worry about leaving a crucial element out of the mix,” said Manish Chadha, AIA - principal at Ismael Leyva Architects, P.C.

In addition to Horowitz’s outstanding work in the real estate and A & E communities, ESCC won the Integrated Installation of the Year Award in 2012 from one of the top security publications – Security Sales & Integration.  The award was a true honor for Horowitz who accepted on behalf of ESCC for their work in the residential and hospitality industry.   The project involved a massive undertaking that entailed years of planning/designing, installing and hundreds of man-hours for an integrated security and communications solution for MiMa, a 63-story glass tower housing 814 residential units and adjoining 28-story YOTEL New York, a futuristic hotel with 600 plus rooms. The impressive project was set in the heart of Manhattan and included IP video, access control, a PBX phone system for back-of-house communications, floor-by-floor elevator control, and building intercom. ESCC also furnished and terminated telecommunications and data cabling for all of the apartments, as well as installed the extensive fiber backbone that carries all system information and cable services. “Anyone can plug in a phone system, set up an intercom, install cameras, provide a form of access control or sell a security system.  What ESCC offers is an integrated package of technology, solutions, service, and support,” said Horowitz.

The firm’s turnkey approach includes system consultants to assess client needs and prepare in-depth proposals, design staff to draw up detailed plans for installations, project managers and installation personnel to coordinate and bring the solution to life, management consultants to train end users on system operations, and service consultants to make sure systems render long-term results.

Future plans for ESCC include expanding its design department and its realm of services outside the NYC metropolitan area. Recently, the company has been involved in design projects in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Chicago, Boston and Washington, D.C. With Horowitz in the driver’s seat, there is no slowing down for ESCC.  Under his direction, the company has risen to new heights over the last 30 years and will continue to pave the way for future construction projects around the globe.
