Doukas joins Adler & Stachenfeld as partner

Ashley Doukas

Manhattan, NY Adler & Stachenfeld LLP (A&S), said that Ashley Doukas has joined the firm to chair its land use and zoning practice.

“I’m over the moon to have Ashley join us,” said Bruce Stachenfeld, chairman of Adler & Stachenfeld. “We couldn’t be the pure play in real estate law without a land use practice, and we needed a superstar talent or no one at all. After an extensive search, that is exactly what we got in Ashley.”

Doukas has been steeped in complicated land use projects from the day she started and throughout her career at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP. Her experience touches every aspect of the land use arena, including applications before the New York City Board of Standards and Appeals, the New York City Department of City Planning and the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. She received a J.D. from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2012, and a B.S. from State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2009.

“Here at Adler & Stachenfeld, the creativity and industry prowess of our attorneys is one of our greatest strengths,” said Terri Adler, managing partner of Adler & Stachenfeld. “We are currently in the midst of dramatic changes to zoning regulations, which will challenge us and our clients in unprecedented ways. For this reason, I am incredibly excited about welcoming Ashley to the firm at a time when the future of New York real estate is teeming with remarkable opportunities.”

“Land use and zoning may be a niche field, but it is often the key to unlocking the upside of a successful real estate deal,” said Doukas. “When I met the team at Adler & Stachenfeld, their excitement about growing the firm’s land use and zoning practice was palpable. I wanted to be part of that energy and help lead the charge. Joining Adler & Stachenfeld was the obvious choice for the next chapter in my career, and I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity ahead.”

Doukas is the latest hire in a renowned list of veteran real estate attorneys who have joined Adler & Stachenfeld this year, including Barbara Shachnow, a partner in the finance practice group; Mitchell Snow, a partner in the tax practice group; and Joseph Kornbluh, a partner in the corporate real estate/joint venture practice group. This fall, A&S will welcome its largest-ever class of first-year associates.
