Douglaston Development tops out The Edge in Brooklyn

Douglaston Development celebrated the "topping out" of The Edge, Brooklyn's most ambitious mixed-use waterfront development and the largest project to date striving for LEED certification. On November 12, developer Jeffrey Levine, chairman of Douglaston Development, and Brooklyn Borough president, Marty Markowitz, greeted approximately 150 guests and the more than 700 construction workers who have been involved in the construction of The Edge. "We're thrilled to have reached this incredible milestone for this one-of-a-kind development," said Levine. "The Edge will forever change Brooklyn's waterfront and serve as a cornerstone for luxury and environmentally-friendly living in the borough." Located at Kent Ave. between North 5th and 7th Sts. on the Williamsburg waterfront, The Edge is revitalizing a 7.5 acre site into a new residential development with over 60,000 s/f of retail space, below-grade parking, and approximately 1.75 acres of open space, featuring a public promenade. Celebrating its "topping out" are the development's two anchor buildings: South Edge, a 30-story tower, which will house 360 residences and the 15-story North Edge, which will offer 205 residences. Slated for fall 2009 occupancy, both buildings will offer eco-friendly homes ranging from studios to three bedrooms with spacious layouts and energy-saving appliances. The Edge's allure is further heightened by its 40,000 s/f amenity space. The Developers Group serves as exclusive sales and marketing firm for the development.
