Bronx, NY Douglaston Development, Essen Health Care and New York City elected officials celebrated the ribbon cutting of a new urgent, primary and specialty medical care facility at Crossroads Plaza, a 587,000 s/f, mixed-income development located at 828 East 149th St. in the Mott Haven neighborhood.
Essen’s new 18,272 s/f, ground-floor space, which is slated to be fully operational this Fall heralds the addition of a much-needed resource to Crossroads Plaza residents and the larger local community and completes Douglaston’s three-phase development complex.
In addition to Essen Health Care, Crossroads Plaza, a three-phase, 587,000 s/f, mixed-use development is comprised of 425 low- to moderate-income affordable units, a 20,000 s/f pedestrian plaza, a universal pre-kindergarten, the local headquarters for the not-for-profit service and advocacy organization The New York Foundling, and an underground parking complex.
“Essen Health Care’s new facility completes the last phase of the Crossroads Plaza development and we’re thrilled to see this final piece of the project come to fruition,” said Jed Resnick, Chief Executive Officer at Douglaston Development. “Crossroads Plaza not only provides the Bronx community with a broad range of affordable housing options, but simultaneously serves the community with early childhood education, social services, and now healthcare as well.
