Diventi of T. Weiss Realty receives LEED cert.

Richard DiVenti, vice president of construction at T. Weiss Realty Corp., Melville, N.Y., one of Long Island's largest real estate developers and owners, has received the distinguished Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). DiVenti, a construction industry veteran with more than 35 years experience is responsible for managing and coordinating all construction projects of T. Weiss Realty and its two affiliates since 2001. He oversaw construction of T. Weiss Realty's recently completed four-story, 133,050 s/f class A office building, Melville Corporate Center III, at 324 S. Service Rd. "Rich DiVenti has been instrumental in the growth of our company and our commitment to providing environmentally sound, sustainable space to our tenants," said Ted Weiss, president of T. Weiss Realty Corp. "Earning this official recognition is an outstanding industry achievement." LEED accredited professionals have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles, and familiarity with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design requirements, resources and processes. LEED promotes standards and strategies for design and construction that ensure buildings are energy and water efficient, sites are developed with minimum damage to the environment, and environmentally sound materials are chosen for the interior and exterior of the building. LEED accreditation indicates that a building professional has passed the accreditation exam given by the USGBC. An indispensable member of the T. Weiss Realty team, DiVenti has had a lifelong interest in construction and has pursued architectural and trade courses since his days in high school. Prior to joining T. Weiss Realty in 2001, DiVenti spent 10 years building biotech and cosmetic laboratories on Long Island. He also has extensive experience in the construction of housing complexes, restaurants and gas stations.
