Developing Long Island: Wheatley Senior Residences

Wyandanch, NY The Wheatley Senior Residences will provide 24 units for formerly homeless individuals, including seniors and veterans.

This 24,000 s/f ADA-compliant facility will offer amenities like a lobby, laundry, administrative office, community room, bicycle storage, and an outdoor patio, plus 36 parking spaces and an elevator.

Located near Wyandanch Station for easy access to Manhattan, it’s managed by Fitzgerald House Inc., focusing on homeless veterans, and developed by Brisa Builders Development LLC, known for affordable housing projects. Architectural design is led by Radmila Lazarevic of B4A, with over 20 years of experience. Funded by public programs like ESSHI, with potential contributions from the NYS HOME program, the project is a joint venture between Brisa and Fitzgerald House, with property owner Carol Gardener facilitating the development. Discussions for rezoning with Babylon’s Department of Planning & Development have been positive, ensuring support for this impactful initiative.

Fitzgerald House Inc. is a charitable 501c3 non-profit organization founded in October 2004.
