D'Elia joins MDKA as executive vice president

According to corporate space planning and interior design firm MKDA, Al D'Elia, AIA, has joined its New York office as executive vice president. D'Elia, who has held leadership positions with Gensler and Mancini Duffy, will be responsible for project management and business development at the firm.

"We believe Al is a leader who can build and motivate strong teams and effectively service both small and complex projects within budgets and schedules," said MKDA president Michael Kleinberg. "In addition, his considerable experience in large-scale, multi-purpose projects will support our objective of growth in this arena."
D'Elia joins MKDA with over 20 years of experience in architectural design, construction management, and strategic facilities planning. Throughout his career, D'Elia has held leadership positions at numerous architectural design firms. In addition to long-term tenures at Gensler and Mancini Duffy, D'Elia has held senior-level management positions at Butler Rogers Baskett, Hillier Architecture and IA Interior Architects.
Experienced in directing substantial projects in multiple markets, D'Elia has overseen an 800,000 s/f relocation project for a major pharmaceutical company as well as sizable projects for Cravath Swaine & Moore and ITT Corporation's world headquarters. Additional project experience includes Goldman Sachs, The Federal Reserve Bank and Daiwa Securities of America, for which he won a design award from The Society of American Registered Architects (SARA).
"I look forward to joining this esteemed interiors firm and to assisting MKDA with future growth and new endeavors," said D'Elia, a registered architect who holds a Bachelor of Architecture from The City College of New York (CCNY).
D'Elia is a member of American Institute of Architects (AIA), National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), World Presidents' Organization (WPO) and CoreNet Global. He is a former president of the Alumni Association of CCNY and the City College Fund.
