Hauppauge, NY According to HIA-LI, James Coughlan, TRITEC Real Estate, and David Manning, Brookhaven National Labs, have been appointed to the organization’s board of directors. Both executives are recognized for their strong Long Island business leadership and long-time active participation in the HIA-LI.
“HIA-LI is planning for the year ahead and we are looking forward to including these two successful Long Islandbusiness executives as board members,” said Terri Alessi-Miceli, HIA-LI president. “They will play an important role in supporting the HIA-LI and our strategic goals to continue to provide business leaders with the ability to network, problem solve and obtain advice on critical issues facing their businesses.”
Coughlan co-founded TRITEC Real Estate Company in 1986 with his brother Robert. Together they have developed millions of s/f of property while building TRITEC into a premier project delivery company. Coughlan is president of TRITEC Building Co. and focuses on specific strategic direction, corporate marketing, and project delivery. He has overseen the site selection, acquisition, design, municipal entitlements, financing, joint venture structuring, construction, and leasing/sales of millions s/f of commercial space. The types of projects Mr. Coughlan has built include industrial parks, mid-rise office buildings, hotels, senior housing, nursing homes, medical office buildings, R&D facilities and industrial buildings. A graduate of Brown University, Mr. Coughlan is Chairman of the Board of the Community Development Corporation of Long Island, a nonprofit that provides affordable housing assistance and community-based lending. He also serves on Stony Brook Medicines Development Council and is a Builder Director for the Long Island Builders Institute. Manning’s responsibilities include developing, implementing, and assessing strategic internal and external communications plans and programs to advance the scientific mission and priority programs and initiatives of the Lab; developing and implementing government and stakeholder relations programs to help increase support for the Lab’s programs and priority projects; and overseeing science education and workforce development programs to fulfill the Lab’s and DOE’s education and diversity goals. Manning has worked in both government and the private sector, including serving as the Deputy Minister of Energy for Alberta, Canada, and head of public affairs for Keyspan/National Grid. Most recently, he served as the U.S. representative for the Premier of Alberta, deeply involved in energy issues. Manning earned a B.A. and L.L.B. in law from the University of Alberta, and did post-graduate work in international law at the Australian National University.
