Manhattan, NY According to the CoreNet Global New York City Chapter, (CoreNet NYC) members of the organization’s Young Leaders Committee recently volunteered with Streetwise Partners, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing unemployment within disadvantaged communities, for a mock interview mentor program. Marsh & McLennan Cos. hosted the event at their 1166 Sixth Ave. headquarters.
The mentoring program proved a great volunteering experience and social exercise for CoreNet’s Young Leaders, as they paired with Streetwise mentees to exchange professional tips and skills to implement during employment interviews. Through the program, the unemployed or underemployed Streetwise mentees can access resources and networks they need to secure and maintain employment.
In addition, the Young Leaders volunteered in the 2018 Special Olympics at the Riverside Park & 72nd St. The event promotes understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities. The group also volunteered with the Kids for Kids Family Fun Day, one of the largest and most successful annual charity events in New York for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
