Continental Pinewood Development Partners launches lottery for The Club at Melville

Addressing the critical need for affordable senior housing, Continental Ventures and Pinewood Development (Continental Pinewood Development Partners) have launched a lottery for 261 affordable 55 and over units at The Club at Melville, located on Deshon Dr. - one of the largest affordable housing projects currently under construction in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The lottery will be held on July 17. Applications are available on the Town of Huntington website (www.huntingtonny.gov) and the Club at Melville website (theclubatmelville.net). Applications must be postmarked no later than July 10. Everyone 55 and over is eligible to enter, although there are income restrictions. Town of Huntington residents will be given priority. "This is an exciting opportunity to enter the much needed affordable 55 and over market," said Jane Gol, President of Continental Ventures. "We applaud the Town of Huntington as well supervisor Frank Petrone for recognizing this need and thank the Huntington Community Development Agency and its Director, Joan Cergol, for working to ensure a successful lottery." The Town of Huntington recognized the increasing need for affordable senior housing in working with Pinewood Development and Continental Ventures. While Huntington's overall population grew 6.1 percent between 1990 and 2010, the 55 and over population grew by 36.5 percent. The breakdown for affordability will range from families earning 80 percent of the Nassau/Suffolk Median Family Income to families earning 130 percent of the Town of Huntington Median Family Income. Pricing for the Club at Melville's units will begin in the low $200,000s and range up to the high $300,000s. "As developers with a stake in the community, our goal is to work with the community and the town to address a need as well as provide a beautiful development," said Amir Chaluts CEO of Continental Ventures. Designed by builders with decades of experience and award-winning architects, this premier lifestyle community will include an expansive clubhouse with a fully equipped fitness center, a great room with fireplace, heated outdoor swimming pool and an architectural reflecting pool with a pavilion. The community will have a 24-hour manned gatehouse full time, on-premises superintendent and elevators. All utilities will be located underground. The Club at Melville's units will consist of two bedroom units and have energy star rated appliances. The ceiling height is nine feet throughout, and there will be high efficiency heating and air systems. "We pride ourselves on creating quality residences in all of our communities," said Uri Hason, CEO of Pinewood Development.
