Faith Hope Consolo will be among the honorees receiving Mercy College's Trustee Medal at the school's 31st Annual Trustees Scholarship Dinner, to be held April 19 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Plaza Hotel.
Joining Consolo, chairman of Prudential Douglas Elliman's Retail Group, in being honored are: Duncan Niederauer, CEO of the N.Y. Stock Exchange, Frank Sadlier Dinger and William Sadlier Dinger, chairman of the board and president, respectively of William H. Sadlier Inc., and Greg Furman, founder and chairman of the Luxury Marketing Council.
"I am thrilled to be honored by such a wonderful institution," said Consolo. "Mercy College is dedicated to preparing the leaders of tomorrow, many of whom would not be able to afford such an exceptional education otherwise. I know the power of education and am thrilled to do my part to support Mercy College's efforts. And to be included in a group with my fellow honorees is even more gratifying."
Previous recipients of this prestigious award include Gary Knell, president of Sesame Street Workshop; Alex Ferrari, executive vice president and COO of MTV; Dr. Charlotte Frank, senior vice president of McGraw-Hill; and Nicole Seligman, executive vice president and general counsel of SONY Corp.
With campuses in Dobbs Ferry, Yorktown Heights and New York City, Mercy College has been dedicated to making a high-quality education attainable, offering more than 90 undergraduate and graduate programs. The vast majority of its students receive financial aid from the college, much of which is funded by proceeds from this dinner.
"Each year, the coveted awards presented at the Mercy College Annual Trustees' Dinner recognize a select group of prominent individuals for their extraordinary achievements," said Mercy College president Dr. Kimberly Cline. "With her unparalleled career defined by intelligence and innovation, Faith Hope Consolo is an outstanding model of inspiration for our students, and we are pleased to celebrate her accomplishments."
A pioneer for women in the retail real estate industry, Consolo has represented some of the world's most noted retail brands, designers and landlords, bringing many great names to their first locations in the United States. As the director of retail operations for Prudential's 50 commercial real estate service offices nationwide, she has been instrumental in remaking retail corridors in New York City and around the world. Her many professional achievements include serving as the sole retail consultant to New York City's Economic Development Corp.
"None of this could have happened without my own strong education at Miss Porter's School, New York University and the Parsons School of Design in France," Consolo said. "Education - and a lot of hard work - gave me my success, and it's clear that Mercy College and its graduates feel the same way. We're a perfect match."
Consolo also has long supported educational institutions and industry initiatives. A founder of the Association of Real Estate Women's Charitable Fund, she has personally assisted in the education of women in the real estate industry. She also has supported scholarship funds for New York University, Cornell University, Columbia University and City College. In addition, she has taught and lectured at numerous institutions of higher learning, including New York University, the Wharton School of Business, Parsons School of Design and the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute at Baruch College, and has run a number of intern and mentoring programs at Prudential Douglas Elliman and her prior firm, Garrick-Aug Associates, where she was Vice Chairman.
