Cohen of Ashlind Properties wins CoStar Power Broker Award

Richard Cohen, founder and principal of Ashlind Properties, has received a 2008 CoStar Power Broker Award, which recognizes the "best of the best" in commercial real estate brokerage. Cohen, who founded Hauppauge-based Ashlind nearly 20 years ago, received the award for being a top industrial leasing broker. Co-Star Group, meanwhile, recognized Ashlind as one of the industry's top performing brokerage firms nationally. "I am honored that CoStar again has recognized me and Ashlind," said Cohen. "This award highlights our experience and our ongoing emphasis on our clients' interests." Cohen and Ashlind have been recognized every year by CoStar since the awards were established in 2002. All awards are based on transaction data in CoStar's commercial real estate database, the largest, independently researched database of commercial real estate property information available online. Information in CoStar's database is verified and continuously updated by approximately 900 CoStar researchers, comprising the largest commercial real estate research operation of its kind. Last year, Ashlind completed deals totaling about 1 million s/f. As the largest professional research organization serving the commercial real estate industry, CoStar is in a unique position to identify the top firms and brokers in each market. Every year, CoStar tallies the commercial real estate sales and lease transactions that closed during the previous year and presents CoStar Power Broker Awards to the select few in each market who closed the highest transaction volume in commercial property sales and leases that year. Among Ashlind's major deals in 2008, were the sale to Global Tissue of 23 acres in Yaphank for a 180,000 s/f plant and warehouse, the purchase by CMB Wireless of a 90,000 s/f building in Bohemia; David Peyser Sportswear Inc.'s purchase of a 68,500 s/f building in Bay Shore and Premier Store Fixtures sale of a 55,000 s/f building in Brentwood to U.S. Non Wovens. Ashlind Properties' client roster includes numerous repeat customers, among them Corwood Laboratories, LNK International, P.C. Richard & Sons, Elm Global Logistics, Broadridge Financial (formerly ADP Investor Communications) and many others. Synonymous with industrial real estate on Long Island, Ashlind Properties, established in 1990 and headquartered in Hauppauge, NY,, is an independent, full-service commercial real estate firm that provides a high level of specialized industrial real estate brokerage.
