Gerrard Bushell, DASNY
New York, NY On Thursday, July 28, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Dr. Gerrard Bushell, the president and CEO of DASNY (New York State Dormitory Authority), will make his first ever appearance at The National Minority Business Council (NMBC), offering the keynote address for the nonprofit organization’s 44
th anniversary celebration dinner & Expo at BNY Mellon’s Financial District headquarters located at 101 Barclay St. in Lower Manhattan. DASNY has a robust construction goal of 30% for MWBEs, a $6 billion project pipeline and participation goals that invite numerous occupations and industries – from accountants and attorneys to bankers and brokers to IT providers and underwriters.
Lenore Janis, vice president of the NMBC, will introduce Dr. Bushell.

Appointed by NYS governor Andrew Cuomo, DASNY (New York State Dormitory Authority) Bushell heads one of the State’s largest purchasers of professional services in banking, legal services, and construction management. DASNY is responsible for financing and rebuilding infrastructure for state and local governments, universities, hospitals, libraries and nonprofit institutions.
He is building upon DASNY’s almost $6 billion project pipeline by sourcing alternative delivery methods such as public/private partnerships, and design/build. With an operational budget of more than $100 million, and a team of 500 construction and public finance professionals, Dr. Bushell has restructured DASNY’s businesses into a simpler and more efficient allocator of capital and construction services.
Dr. Bushell was formerly a senior relationship advisor with BNY Mellon's following a number of senior advisory roles with financial institutions. He also served as a key advisor to the former New York State Comptroller H. Carl McCall.
He holds a B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from Columbia University.
