DOB commissioner Rick Chandler DOB commissioner Rick Chandler

New York, NY BOMA/NY has created an unprecedented opportunity for industry professionals to learn about the new NYC Department of Buildings (DOB)’s program DOB NOW directly from the source itself: DOB commissioner Rick Chandler will present the keynote at the association’s October 27th’s Annual Conference & Leadership Breakfast. He will share the details and benefits of the new DOB NOW program, a group of web-friendly systems that over the next two years will be phasing out the need for, and the ability to undertake, in-person visits, repeated phone calls, and the old, online portal use, which has been discontinued. All owners and licensed professionals are required to use DOB NOW.

The commissioner will be covering the following topics:

• The new Inspection Ready program: encompasses online scheduling, tracking, and notifications

• The Build program: addresses online job and permit filing for plumbing and sprinkler work

• The Safety program: covers online compliance for façade, elevators, and boilers. Note that the façade compliance part of this program launched September 16th.

The commissioner will take Q&A, and then BOMA/NY will dive into the details further with a moderated panel discussion of experts from the New York City Coalition of Code experts, who will discuss how the program is working and how to improve interaction with the DOB systems.

Sponsored by Burnham and Paramount Group, Inc., the conference opens at 8 a.m. with breakfast and registration, and officially gets underway at 8:30 a.m., with the announcement of the BOMA/NY election results. It then moves directly into the DOB NOW keynote, Q&A session and moderated panel forum, with adjournment expected at 10:30 a.m. Cost is $125 for BOMA/NY members, $50 for BOMA/NY Emerging Leader members and $180 for non-members. The event will be held at Club 101, 101 Park Ave., at Park and 42nd St.
