Has the plunging Dow and skyrocketing cost of the bailout pushed smart, long-term practices such as sustainability onto the back burner?
BOMA/NY says "No!" and is hosting its Annual Energy Action Day on Tuesday, March 10, to provide guidance on the financial repercussions of implementing energy efficiency, LEED and other sustainability projects.
Energy Action Day features a two-module morning seminar that delves into the details of achieving efficiency from benchmarking, retro-commissioning and overcoming financial barriers to energy efficiency, to greening cost/benefit analyses, LEED tips for new and existing buildings, getting the best price for renewable energy, renewable energy credits, upcoming legislation and much more.
Invited to keynote Energy Action Day's luncheon is New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
The day also features table top exhibits by leading providers of sustainability goods and services.  
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and includes continental breakfast, with welcoming remarks by Paul Magda, co-chair of the BOMA/NY Energy/Sustainability committee kicking off the day at 8:30 a.m.  Module One: The First Steps Towards Energy Efficiency starts the seminar at 8:35 a.m. and features discussions on: The First Steps Towards Energy Efficiency, Benchmarking, LEED for New Buildings, Retrocomissioning, Strategies for Address Lease-Related Barriers to Efficiency and LEED for Existing Buildings. The Module concludes at 9:45 a.m., with a break for reviewing the exhibits.Module II: Managing the Cost of Green gets underway at 10 a.m. and wraps at 11 a.m. Its feature topics include: Benefits of and Considerations when Purchasing Renewable Energy, Renewable Energy Supply and Demand for 2009, Structuring Your REC Purchase to Limit Costs: Key Considerations, and RPS and Carbon Policy at the New York State and National Level: The Impact on Your Long-Term Planning for Renewables and RECs.
David Bomke of the N.Y. Energy Consumers Council Inc. will wrap up the morning at 11 a.m., leaving a half hour for exhibition visits. Cocktails begin at 11:35 a.m. and the luncheon runs through 1:30 p.m.
The cost for the seminar and luncheon is $210 for BOMA/NY members and $280 for non-members. Luncheon only is $150 for BOMA/NY members and $200 for non-members. Sponsorships are $2,500; exhibitor fees are $850 for BOMA/NY members and $1,500 for non-members.
