BOMA/NY to host 2012 Energy Action Day - March 8

With all the talk about going green and staying green, it's time to talk about generating green for the bottom line, and BOMA/NY will address that need on March 8, in its Annual Energy Action Day. The morning-long seminar will be at Club 101 at 101 Park Avenue, running from 8-11 a.m. With energy eating up 40% of operating costs, the seminar is focusing on cost-containing and revenue-generating strategies, which have the added advantage of being tested and put in place by the panel. Jeff Brodsky, president, Related Management, leads off as keynoter with two panels following: Make the Most of Local Law 87: Learn How to Save $$$ While Complying. With NYC's Greener, Greater Buildings Plan requiring buildings over 50,000 s/f to complete energy audits and retro-commissioning of base building systems every ten years, the seminar will provide: * Brief overview of LL 87 requirements/deadlines * Owner case studies/insight on energy audit and retro-commissioning processes, including: - Energy-saving ideas - Which ideas worked - How much energy and money they saved Demand Response Revenue and Energy Efficiency Capacity payment value has declined in the last five years, and regulations may further impact prices. Participants will learn how to implement: * Creative, technology-driven solutions to increase the amount of load that can be pledged, while integrating energy efficiency * The next generation of demand control systems/equipment with high levels of automation and inexpensive implementation, coupled with high demand response.
