BOMA NY: CPE and the key to staying current in CRE

BOMI course example from a comprehensive curriculum offered by BOMA New York

New York, NY Our mission at BOMA New York is to support and advance the commercial real estate industry throughout the five boroughs of New York City. We play an active role in government affairs, produce premium networking opportunities, and provide a plethora of educational programs year-round.

Continued education is a requisite in the CRE industry, and we are dedicated to improving the skills of all professionals. With a focus on bettering individual careers, respective companies, and the collective industry, BOMA New York partnered with the Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) for the past three decades. Together with BOMI, the leading provider of CRE workforce development, BOMA NY offers our members an exceptional continued education curriculum. Accordingly, BOMA New York was recognized by BOMA International as the most active educational association within the United States.

In the beginning of this year, BOMA International and BOMI officially joined forces to enhance the quality of their educational offerings and make individual class content even more responsive to marketplace needs. When the January announcement was made, Randal Froebelius, the BOMA international chair at the time said, “By coming together, we elevate our effectiveness at being the preferred provider of career-long education and training.”

BOMI offers courses for property and facility management personnel and building engineers. To earn one of their many professional designations, professionals need to complete eight courses and pass the corresponding course exams. Multiple members of the BOMA NY board proudly promote their RPA and FMA designations, as well as attribute their investment with BOMI to their career growth.

While many companies encourage growth and help pay for continued professional education, not all professionals are as fortunate. Therefore, BOMA New York actively manages a scholarship fund for those professionals in need of financial assistance. Established in 1988, the BOMA New York Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students enrolled in BOMI educational programs. To date, BOMA New York has awarded over 200 scholarships.

For the upcoming 2024 BOMI curriculum, BOMA New York has selected seventeen professionals to bestow a BOMA New York Scholarship, who will be individually named at the BOMA New York Holiday Luncheon on December 1st at the Ziegfeld Theater.

If you have any questions about BOMI, their classes and designations, and/or how you can qualify for a BOMA New York Scholarship, please contact Becky Perez-Melo at [email protected].
