The former Regal theater was a 23,000 s/f space that opened in 1922 as a live-show venue. It showed its first movie with sound in 1929.

The new theater features reclining seats with electronic controls, stadium seating and kiosks for self-service ticketing. “Regal Lynbrook will provide our guests with luxurious and spacious recliners to go along with the Regal Premium Experience,” said Rachel Lueras, marketing manager for Regal. “We are excited for residents of Lynbrook and the surrounding areas to experience the best Regal has to offer at this state-of-the-art theatre.”

Throughout opening week, movie lovers can experience exclusive discounts, including $3 movies, popcorn and soft drinks, with proceeds benefitting Variety the Children’s Charity of New York, the Children’s Medical Fund of New York and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Long Island.

“It is so great to see the result of all the hard work to complete this project,” said Ed Blumenfeld, president and founder, Blumenfeld Development Group.   “It was the support of former Mayor Hendrick and the Lynbrook Chamber of Commerce, in particular, Jeff Greenfield, that helped us get this project off the ground. It has been a pleasure to work with Regal, Mayor Beech and the Village of Lynbrook to make it a reality and bring the downtown a state of the art facility which will help serve as a stimulus for their arts and culture district.”

“Regal is honored to partner with Variety the Children’s Charity of New York, the Children’s Medical Fund of New York and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Long Island for our preview events,” said Richard Grover, vice president of communications for Regal. “With the new Lynbrook theatre, we are excited to bring another top-quality moviegoing experience to New York and invest in this outstanding community.”
