Bellone and Blumenfeld Dev. Grp. to be honored at USGBC-LI gala

Babylon town supervisor Steve Bellone along with Edward, David and Brad Blumenfeld and Jonathan Cohen of Blumenfeld Development Group, Ltd. (BDG) will be honored by the U.S. Green Building Council-Long Island chapter for their vision of responsible building practices at the 2nd annual Building Green Long Island gala. The gala will take place on Wednesday, March 18 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Long Island Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. "We are honoring Bellone and Blumenfeld Development Group for their vision and pioneering efforts," said Gary Anzalone, USGBC-LI Gala co-chair. "These individuals have had a very profound impact on Long Island and have made a number of great strides in energy efficient building and construction." Bellone, an active participant and supporter of the green movement is currently serving his third term as Town Supervisor. He has introduced green building initiatives, including the construction of a zero energy home demonstration project to educate local contractors about green building techniques and launched one of the most innovative energy retrofit programs in the country, the Long Island Green Homes program. Blumenfeld Development Group, located in Syosset, has become an industry leading development firm that specializes in converting underutilized real estate into vibrant, innovative, progressive spaces that meet the economic and social needs of the community.
