Bartley named Marvel’s director of interior design

Manhattan, NY Marvel has recruited Neil Bartley to lead interiors.

Founding principal, Jonathan Marvel said, “With Neil’s expertise, Marvel’s interiors will be strengthened and, as a result, all areas of our multi-disciplinary practice will be elevated. Throughout his career, Bartley has honed an expertise in interiors with a broad focus in hospitality, office, retail, and mixed-use projects. After completing formal studies and internships, he located to San Francisco, working at Rapt Studios, BAR Architects and Studio O+A. On the West Coast, he carved out a niche, creating dynamic interiors rooted in concept and incorporating branding, wayfinding and product design. Additionally, he served as an adjunct professor of interior design at the California College of the Arts. Most recently, Bartley served as associate principal and studio director at A+I in New York. While there, he developed interior and strategic design concepts for a variety of commercial, hospitality and workplace environments.

Now, as head of Marvel interiors, Bartley is committed to expanding the firm’s capabilities, marrying its expertise in architecture with his sensibilities in interiors and devising equitable and purposeful spaces. “Leading an interiors team and collaborating with architecture and landscape architecture disciplines is an incredible opportunity,” said Bartley. “Creating interiors that celebrate user experience will enable Marvel to problem solve and offer clarity in higher education, affordable housing, cultural institutions, hospitality, mixed-use projects and beyond. I am grateful for this opportunity and thrilled to be joining Marvel.”

Born and raised in Kentucky, Neil attended the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, where he earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He is active with IIDA and is an associate member of the New York City chapter.
