ASIS Long Island chapter accepting nominations for the 2014 Arthur B. Colwin, Jr. Security Officer of the Year award

In conjunction with the ASIS International L.I. chapter Annual Person of the Year Dinner, nominations are invited for the Arthur B. Colwin Jr. Security Officer of the Year Award. This award is presented by ASIS L.I. in each year to improve the image and self esteem of security officers by recognizing outstanding achievements and professionalism in performing above and beyond the call of duty. It is not necessary for nominees to be an ASIS member. The nominated security officer, contracted or proprietary, must have performed an act(s) of merit leading to the saving of life, property, information, etc or leading to the arrest or apprehension of a perpetrator of a crime while on duty. The act(s) should have taken place between Jan. 1st and Dec 31st in the year (2013) prior to the awards evening. The nominee must have been assigned to a site in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, and the act(s) must have occurred at this location. The nominee must be the holder of a current NYS Security Guard License. Nominations must include the following: * Titled " Security Officer of the Year Nomination" * Name of company * Full name and age of nominee * NYS Security Guard License # * Length of service * All relevant details pertaining to the incident(s) * Signature and designation of the person making the nomination The award will be selected by an independent panel determined by the ASIS L.I. executive board. The award recipient will be presented the Arthur B. Colwin Security Officer of the Year award at the L.I. chapter's Person of the Year Dinner and will receive a $500 monetary award as well as a complimentary one year associate membership with ASIS International, and be assigned to the L.I. chapter. All award nominations must be postmarked by March 1st.
