Alterman, Berkowitz and Berger of RKF arrange 1,900 s/f retail lease to Duxiana

RKF has arranged a 1,900 s/f lease with high-end bedding retailer Duxiana at 9 West 20th St. in the Flatiron District. Located on the north block between Fifth and Sixth Aves., this will become Swedish-based Duxiana's third Manhattan location, and marks the brand's return to the Flatiron District after a previous relocation. RKF executive vice president Gary Alterman, senior director Ross Berkowitz and associate Brandon Berger represented the owner, Jumi W. 20 LLC, while Ryan Gessin of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented Duxiana. "We specifically targeted home furnishings brands for this space because we felt they would add great synergies with the tenants currently on the block," said Alterman. "While the Fifth Ave. corridor of the Flatiron District is geared more toward fashion and beauty, the side streets between Fifth and Sixth Aves. are filling up with boutique fitness studios and home furnishing stores that are looking to capitalize on the shopper traffic from Fifth and the dense residential community along Sixth." Scheduled to open later this year, Duxiana will occupy the ground level of the 11-story, 25,000 s/f property. Duxiana will share the block with nearby home furnishings co-tenants Lillian August, NY Loft Kitchens & Home Interiors, LV Wood, ModShop and Beckenstein Fabric and Interiors. Known for its technologically advanced beds and high-end fine linens, Duxiana's handcrafted DUX, the Bed For Life©, is sold exclusively in 27 Duxiana stores across North America and over 100 locations worldwide. Duxiana operates two other Manhattan stores at 161 Hudson Street in TriBeCa and 235 East 58th St. on the Upper East Side.
