"ACEC New York is proud to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our member firms represented by these projects," said Joseph Amato, ACEC New York chairman. "Engineers are an essential part of our communities, designing the bridges and roads that carry us from place to place, the buildings that house us and our workplaces, and the water treatment systems that are necessary for a healthy environment. It is our mission as an organization to make sure these amazing, innovative contributions to life, as we know it, do not go unrecognized."
ACEC New York also honored two exceptional New York agencies with the Awards of Merit. The Award of Merit honorees for 2015 are the New York City Department of Design and Construction and the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation for the breadth of their operations, coordination with numerous other agencies, and commitment to design excellence. The New York City Department of Buildings was also honored with the first-ever Design Industry Excellence Award for the successful development and implementation of the 2014 construction codes. Proceeds from the event benefited the ACEC New York Scholarship Fund, formally the New York Consulting Engineering Scholarship & Educational Fund.
