New York, NY The Urban Land Institute New York (ULI New York) is pleased to recognize 18 projects as finalists for the 2022 Awards for Excellence in Development. The winners of the awards will be presented at the Seventh Annual Awards for Excellence in Development Gala on November 2, 2022, at Cipriani South St.

The awards recognize exceptional development projects in the private, public and nonprofit sectors across New York State that best exemplify ULI’s commitment to shape the future of the built environment for transformative impact in communities worldwide. ULI New York’s prestigious Awards for Excellence in Development recognize the full development process of a project, including architecture and design, and are noted for being reflective of best-in-class development.

“We are honored to recognize 18 incredible projects as finalists for the 2022 Awards for Excellence in Development. Each year, we get the opportunity to recognize projects and organizations that work tirelessly to anticipate the needs and challenges of the future and advance the industry further than what we could have ever imagined,” said Brian Collins, current ULI NY chair and executive vice president, director of development at Silverstein Properties. “This year’s finalists are no different and I look forward to seeing the incredible success they bring.”

"ULI New York’s Awards for Excellence are a phenomenal opportunity to honor and recognize projects that are truly outstanding and help to propel our industry to new heights,” said Cia Buckley Marakovits, Awards for Excellence co-chair, president, chief investment officer and partner at Dune Real Estate Partners.

“We are very much looking forward to this year’s award ceremony and gala as there are some incredible projects to be honored. ULI New York’s Awards for Excellence in Development essentially provide us with a gold standard for shaping the future of the built environment and communities around the world,” said Alan Suna, founder, Awards for Excellence co-chair, and chairman of Silvercup Studios.

The nominees will be celebrated in the following nine categories: office development, market-rate housing development, affordable housing development, mixed-use development, repositioning or redevelopment, hotel development, retail development, institutional development, and civic development.

At this year’s Seventh Annual Awards for Excellence in Development Gala, ULI New York will also honor Ronne (Veronica) Hackett, with its 2022 Visionary Leadership in Land Use Award. Hackett will be the first woman in ULI New York history to be honored with the award. Each year the award recognizes a leader within New York’s real estate community whose body of work exemplifies the mission and values of the Urban Land Institute and who has had a transformational impact on our region and the industry.  The recipient must also have demonstrated an enduring commitment - through civic engagement - to industry associations, causes and initiatives. Past award recipients are Larry A. Silverstein, Ron Moelis and Kirk Goodrich.
