In 1989, Donnelly founded Donnelly Mechanical, ultimately leading the firm to become one of the largest HVAC contractors in the nation. He further expanded the company in 2009 after founding Donnelly Sustainable Energy Services (SES), a division of Donnelly Mechanical offering maintenance, construction, consultation and energy sourcing services. As CEO, Donnelly has remained responsible for the firm's strategic vision, ensuring that the fully-integrated HVAC and energy company remains at the forefront of the industry.
With over 35 years experience in the industry, Donnelly has extensive knowledge of all facets of the HVAC business, including estimating, budgeting, energy service contracts, energy solutions and strategies, LEED projects and delivery systems, technical surveys and reporting, consulting, indoor air quality and turn-key projects. Donnelly is an accredited LEED AP Operations and Maintenance, Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), licensed Certified Demand Side Management (CDSM) and Air Cleaning Specialist (ASCS).
Committed to community involvement, Donnelly is well-known for his philanthropic efforts. He is actively involved with a number of charitable organizations including, The Mollie Biggane Melanoma Foundation, an organization aiming to increase awareness and support for melanoma prevention, and the community-based agency, North Shore Child and Family Guidance Center. Donnelly additionally participates in coaching Garden City baseball & basketball.
