2022 Year in Review: Carrie Villani, LERA Consulting Structural Engineers

Carrie Villani
Director of Marketing
LERA Consulting Structural Engineers

What person, project, transaction or market trend had the greatest impact on your industry this year?

Organizations including AIA, ACEC, New York Building Congress, SEAoNY and The Architectural League helped to get us back to more normal times hosting fantastic events and bringing members together. I was especially grateful for my fellow Board and committee members at AMFP NYC, SMPS NY and ULI NY for supporting each other.

What was your greatest professional accomplishment or most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2022?

Winning a major New York City healthcare project, a major New York transportation project and furthering the sports pursuits at LERA was a team effort we all celebrated!

How has your career path changed in 2022?

I have invested in even more to encouraging and mentoring new professionals both at LERA and through my organization connections. This has been a volatile time for many, offering advice, support and real courses of action is helpful for younger staff and mature professionals alike.

What emerging trends will drive investment and development in 2023?

Design and construction professionals continue to be active in nearly all markets. We are all watching the financial markets carefully as well as changes in the technology workforce and residential needs. Massive civic infrastructure projects will certainly lead to further private development in areas that will benefit from this growth.
