What leadership lesson has made the greatest impact on your career?

The leadership lesson that has made the greatest impact on my career is that effective leaders create opportunities for others to learn through observation and experience. As an associate, I benefited from being in the room as partners spoke with clients, responded to emails, and navigated deals in real time. Those experiences taught me nuances that law school could not. Now, as a partner at Cullen and Dykman, I carry that lesson forward by giving associates opportunities to observe, participate, and grow.

What advice would you give to the next generation of women entering commercial real estate?

Be confident in your knowledge, stay curious, and do not hesitate to make your voice heard. Commercial real estate is built on relationships, so develop genuine connections with clients, colleagues, and others throughout the industry. Before structuring a deal, take the time to understand the client’s needs, priorities, and goals. That insight will help you create an approach that works from every angle. Seek out mentors, value your perspective, and support other women as you advance.
