2023 Women in CRE: Katie Kurtz, Silverstein Properties

Katie Kurtz
Chief Financial Officer
Silverstein Properties

What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? As chief financial officer, my role is less singular transaction or project based but rather focused on the profitability, liquidity and overall financial health of the enterprise. Under my leadership, my team has implemented strong financial metrics and controls that have become even more important given the current market conditions and rising interest rates. I am proud to be part of the senior team helping to steer our firm through today’s challenging environment.

Who inspires you most? What qualities do they possess that inspire you? Larry Silverstein. He cares about his family, his business, his employees and his city. He inspires me to dream big, work hard and be the best version of myself.

Why should this nominee be recognized in our Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight? “Katie is an outstanding commercial real estate executive. In addition to being a very experienced, skilled and technical CFO, Katie is an expert at managing her team and projects. She is a great mentor and coach to many people inside and outside of our organization. In short, Katie is an exceptional CFO, manager, colleague, and leader.” - Dino Fusco, COO at Silverstein Properties.

What are the most important factors women in your industry should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with? I think the growth and pace of the firm itself are important. These should align with your personal aspirations and give you the runway needed.
