2023 Ones to Watch Rising Stars: Aakash Badjatya, LERA Consulting Structural Engineers RLLP

Aakash Badjatya
Senior Associate
LERA Consulting Structural Engineers RLLP

Number of years at firm:

One thing on my bucket list: Skydiving!

When I am not working, I am: Reading, travelling or playing volleyball.

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of? We recently fixed a leaking basement for an owner in the city. The building was old and its basement would occasionally flood on rainy days. The project team decided to install a large precast sump pit and a network of internal subsurface drainage lines to collect the water and pump it outside. I led LERA’s design team in designing the sump pit, its coordination with the existing foundations, support of excavation, penetrations through existing walls, slab demo and rebuild. The project was small but highly satisfying for me, as we solved a tricky problem for a client in need!

What makes this nominee a RISING STAR?
“Aakash is dedicated to the industry, completing the ACEC NY Emerging Leaders Program and making sure to learn from senior mentors while also guiding the careers of younger staff and industry members. He serves his clients at DASNY, SUCF, SCA, DDC, DEP and others with steadfast determination and clarity.” - Carrie Villani, Director of Marketing at LERA Consulting Structural Engineers
