2022 Industry Leaders: Tricia Ebner, MdeAS

Nominee’s Name & Job Title: Tricia Ebner

Nominee’s Company/Affiliation: MdeAS

Nominee’s City & State of Employment: New York, NY

What aspect of your position do you find most challenging?

With more experience comes more responsibility, and my role has diversified, shifting from hands-on roles with projects to managing multiple jobs, clients, and architects. The challenge now, as a mentor, has progressed from solving problems individually to teaching others the skills to identify issues and come forward with a solution.

What advice would you give the next generation of leaders in your industry?

When holding a leadership position, recognize verbal/non-verbal cues from clients and colleagues. Being receptive to feedback, regardless of one’s experience level, creates an engaged team that produces a higher quality of work. In my case, design and architecture flourishes when informed by multiple points of view.

What is your management style?

I am dedicated to the growth and development of my colleagues and enjoy working with each individual to target areas of growth and success. I believe in motivating employees to take on more challenging tasks while offering the support and guidance to have them succeed and develop their skillset.

Describe what you would consider to be ONE of your top career highlights:

A recent project that tops my list of highlights is the reimagination of the former Master Printer’s Building, SL Green’s 410 10th Ave., which I oversaw as project architect from design through construction phase services. Through strategic design interventions, MdeAS revitalized and redefined the building and tenant experience.
