Title: Senior Design Engineer

Company Name: Bohler

In the past year, what project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my contributions to the design of the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center renovation project. When I was in college, the student center was always a central hub for events, community and building relationships. Being part of this project is not only nostalgic for me, but I also feel fulfilled knowing this will be a great addition to the university community. I also received the Huntington Chamber of Commerce – Long Island Young Professionals Award this year. As someone who moved to Long Island after college, I was honored to be recognized for my contribution to my new community.

How do you contribute to your community or your profession?
As an engineer, I have the ability to influence the design of new land development projects or renovations throughout the community. Successful projects benefit the local economy. It’s also very rewarding for me to see a client’s vision come to life. In my hometown of Huntington, I am involved in a variety of local charities and initiatives including the Long Island Wildlife & Animal Rescue and Alzheimer’s Association. Each year I also make a donation to the Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center back home in North Carolina. I feel fortunate to be able to support these causes in any way that I can.

How do you advocate for your fellow women in real estate?
I am a proud member of Bohler’s Women’s Professional Network. While the group allows me to garner advice and insight from accomplished women in my field, it also provides me the opportunity to offer support and encouragement to other women. Together, we discuss the industry and what is next for women in STEM, with the goal of creating positive change.

What books or social media influencers would you recommend to other women?
Christina Koch is one of my favorite people on Twitter (@Astro_Christina). She is a very accomplished astronaut who shares interesting insight into her career at NASA including being a part of the first all-female spacewalk. She is an excellent role model for women in STEM and her photos from space are amazing!

Why should women consider a career in commercial real estate and related services?
No project is ever the same! All of my projects have their own unique challenges and always give me an opportunity to learn something new. At Bohler, I have had the opportunity to work on a range of developments including multifamily, higher education, commercial and industrial.
