2019 Women in Building Services: Danielle Semp, Lothrop Associates LLP

Name: Danielle Semp, NCIDQ

Title: Interior Designer

Company Name: Lothrop Associates LLP

How many years have you been in your current field? Four

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months?
Passing the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Exam has been my greatest professional achievement in the last 12 months. Over the course of one year, I passed two exams and in April 2018 I passed the third and final exam to earn my certification. Since earning my Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design I have been passionate about studying and passing the national exam to become certified.

What does it mean to you to be a team player?
Being a team player is not only important in the Interior Design field, but vital. Although Interior Design can be viewed as a stand-alone service to our clients, to me, it is an integral part of all of the team members involvement including the Architects, Contractors and Clients. Team players must communicate effectively with one another, problem solve, and be willing to take on any challenge to ensure a beautiful project is the outcome. A great team player should aim to not only bring out the best in themselves but to bring out the best in others. I believe you should maintain this belief not only in the workplace but as a part of your everyday life.
