Fordham Real Estate Institute breakfast panel - May 30
The Fordham Real Estate Institute and The Business Council of Westchester are proud to announce an upcoming forum: Real Estate’s Next Revolution – From The Amazon Effect to Cannabis Legalization. The breakfast panel will take place on Wednesday, May 30 from 8:00-10:00 a.m. at the University’s West Harrison campus and will focus on the state of adaptive reuse throughout the County and how new opportunities will impact the commercial real estate landscape.
The Fordham Real Estate Institute and The Business Council of Westchester first partnered in May 2017 for an event focused on the makings of a 24-hour city. This year’s gathering will address the continued explosion of e-commerce and its multibillion-dollar impact on the commercial real estate industry, as well as opportunities that could arise from the legalization of medical marijuana in New York state. With the ongoing disruption of retail and industrial markets, creative developers are uncovering new opportunities to reinvigorate and repurpose warehouses, office spaces and brick-and-mortar stores. Savvy developers and investors are becoming increasingly interested in these properties as the industry continues to shift.
Moderator Michael Stoler, managing director at Madison Realty Capital, real estate commentator on 1010 WINS and WCBS Newsradio 880, co-chair of the Fordham Real Estate Institute’s Industry Outreach Committee and adjunct faculty member, will lead the discussion, breaking down the latter implications for Westchester County. Panelists will include:
• Adam Altman, founder and managing member, KABR Group
• Michael McQueeny, associate and chair, cannabis practice, Genova Burns Attorneys at Law
• Seth Pinsky, executive vice president and investment manager, RXR
The discussion will be followed by the panelists answering audience questions.
“The Fordham Real Estate Institute is dedicated to staying at the forefront of the trends that are impacting and revolutionizing the real estate industry, which makes the BCW the perfect partner in serving Westchester County and beyond,” said Anthony R. Davidson, Ph.D., MBA, dean of Fordham’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies. “As the industry evolves, it is important to bring market experts and leaders together to exchange ideas that target issues and promote success and continued growth. I have no doubt that attendees will gain new perspectives from this event – thanks to our wonderful panelists.”
“We are delighted to once again collaborate with Fordham University on this exciting topic, which further supports our focus on the county’s urban centers and continued growth,” said Marsha Gordon, President and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester. “The impact of e-commerce and potential cannabis legalization could transform the way we develop and operate commercial real estate in on our cities and the county. In order to truly capitalize on these opportunities we must first understand them and how we can harness them to ensure future success.”
Real Estate’s Next Revolution – From The Amazon Effect to Cannabis Legalization will take place on Wednesday, May 30 at Fordham University’s Westchester Campus located at 400 Westchester Avenue in Harrison. Event sponsors include First American Title Insurance Company and Simone Development. Registration for the forum is $45.
