BRB's New Canaan Country School receives National LEED Award

New Canaan, CT The new Stevens Building at New Canaan Country School was recently awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) recognition as one of the "greenest" school buildings in the State of Connecticut. The project achieved the U.S. Green Building Council's silver level of certification for overall design, materials conservation, and use of systems that emphasize energy and water efficiency.

During the planning process, the board and the project management team made it a priority to construct the most environmentally-responsible building possible. The Country School project management team, Butler, Rogers, Baskett Architects, and Turner Construction worked with a LEED consulting and commissioning firm, the Stone House Group, to achieve this goal.

"NCCS is gratified that our efforts in sustainable building practices have been recognized by this award," said Tim Bazemore, New Canaan Country School headmaster. "Creating a learning environment that supports excellent teaching and the practical application of sustainability is at the core of the school's mission."
