Yofiore Frozen Yogurt store holds grand opening celebration
Yofiore celebrated the grand opening of its first yogurt store in Brooklyn with dozens of colorful balloons, free yogurt, a proclamation from the Brooklyn borough president, and a ribbon cutting ceremony. The new store is located at 32 Court St.
Timothy King, principal of CPEX Real Estate, the firm that leased the space to Yofiore, kicked off the September 9th celebration by observing, "On primary day when people are going out to vote, we're seeing the personification of the American Dream today with the opening of Yofiore."
Spencer Shin, one of four Korean-American partners in the Yofiore Franchising Company, said, "This is our first store in Brooklyn, but it will be the first of many to come. We're all Korean-Americans seeking this American Dream."
Shin thanked the landlord, Mona Gora, King for finding the space, and Borough president Marty Markowitz for his support, and highlighted the fact that frozen yogurt is a healthy alternative to other fast foods.
Borough president Markowtiz presented Shin and his partners, Jo Ann Kim, Anthony Shim, and Michael Lee, with a proclamation declaring September 9, 2008, Yofiore Yogurt Day in Brooklyn.
Carl Hum, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, welcomed Yofiore and its partners to Brooklyn and said, "A recent study found that Brooklyn gained more than 20,000 jobs in the last 10 years, and many of those were small retail businesses like Yofiore. I think you're going to find that this Brooklyn store will be the most profitable of all your stores."
A second Yofiore yogurt store is scheduled to open in Brooklyn in October at 209 Bedford Ave. in Williamsburg.
