Weiner of Marcum receives On the Edge Innovation Award
The Leading Edge Alliance (LEA), a worldwide group of large independent accounting and consulting practices, honored Jeffrey Weiner, managing partner of Marcum LLP and chairman and chief executive officer of the Marcum Group, with its esteemed On The Edge Innovation Award.
The award recognizes an individual outside of the LEA who has made an enduring and pioneering contribution to the public accounting profession. "This year, the judges didn't have to look beyond its members to find the candidate who they unanimously agreed was most worthy of this recognition," said Karen Kehl-Rose, president, The Leading Edge Alliance. "On the contrary, Jeff is a founding member of the LEA who has grown Marcum from a small suburban player to a national force. He redesigned the standard for how firms deliver professional development, and his leadership style has helped drive a culture in the firm that reframed traditional attitudes toward staff, marketing and practice growth nationwide."
Over the past 15 months, Weiner successfully negotiated and carried out three merger transactions, growing the firm from 3 offices and 450 team members to 12 offices and more than 800 team members. As a result, the Firm achieved a Top 20 ranking among the nation's accounting firms. He additionally brought together nontraditional, value-added services, including executive search, technology solutions, Web, marketing and graphic design under the Marcum Group umbrella.
In connection with the firm's growth, Weiner negotiated the largest New York City midtown commercial space lease of the year - 60,000 s/f, at an exceptional price - to establish a new base for the Firm's New York City operations.
