US Energy Group launches 2012 benchmarking service

After receiving acclaim for benchmarking hundreds of clients' buildings with N.Y.C. in the first year of filing under Local Law 84, US Energy Group has launched a 2012 Benchmarking Service, establishing itself as a leader in benchmarking services. The US Energy Group Benchmarking Service makes the process of reporting energy usage to the EPA's Portfolio Manager hassle-free for owners and managers by handling both the administrative and technical details of complying with the legislation. USE Manager, the information hub of US Energy Group's Building Energy Management System, was the first system authorized to issue Benchmarking Compliance Certificates, recognized by N.Y.C. as proof of benchmarking. "Our team has become experts in the NYC benchmarking process," explained Jerry Pindus, CEO of US Energy Group. "We take care of all of the details of this complicated process and make it easy for owners and managers." Local Law 84, which specifies the benchmarking regulations, is part of New York City's Greener, Greater Buildings Plan, a vision of PlaNYC 2030. The goal is to make the city's buildings more sustainable and encourage energy efficiency measures. The Department of Buildings and the Office of Long Term Planning and Sustainability are both involved in the implementation of Local Law 84. New York City has given US Energy Group approval to use the USE Manager benchmarking certificates as proof of compliance. US Energy Group developed the certificate system because the city is requiring proof of compliance but is not issuing any compliance certificates themselves.
