Queens, NY The Young Men/Women’s Real Estate Association (YM/WREA) – a membership organization devoted to young men and women in the real estate profession giving back to the community– in cooperation with The River Fund New York and iEat Green, LLC, hosted its 10th annual Thanksgiving Feed the Less Fortunate event. The association has brought warmth and love to Rufus King Park in Jamaica, Queens once a year the Tuesday before Thanksgiving for each of the past ten years and continued to do so at this year’s event where volunteers were encouraged to help prepare meals and donate to those in need.

The meals were prepared by several volunteer teams in Old Westbury, Long Island and delivered to area residents at Rufus King Park in Jamaica Queens. Cooking began on Saturday, November 19 and went until Monday, the 21. The drive’s volunteers served the food on Tuesday, November 22, which included more than 20 real estate professionals from different firms as well as local volunteers, bringing hot meals to an expected 600 people in the park and enough food for another 400 to local area shelters.

“This has been an extremely important cause for the association to be a part of for the last ten years,” said executive director David Green of Cushman & Wakefield. “This tradition has been of wonderful means for real estate professionals who want to come together for a great cause, which is one of the core missions of our association.”

“The opportunity for us to give back to our community, and to model and share the experience with our family and co-workers, is priceless. We look forward to our continued partnership with the men and women from the YMWREA for the next 10 years!’ said Bhavani Jaroff, chef and founder of iEat Green, LLC.

River Fund executive director, Swami Durga Das, said, “Over the past 10 years, the support from the YMWREA has been extremely important in helping to maintain our Thanksgiving program serving one of the most financially depressed populations in Queens.”
