Thru the Lens: EMCOR's "Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today." campaign

EMCOR/Penguin's employees, along with tenants of the Alexandria Center for Life Science, Gilda's Club NYC volunteers and members, and more, donned EMCOR Pink Hard Hats and assembled to form a 750+ person giant human pink ribbon in a "Call to Action" in support of breast cancer awareness as part of EMCOR's "Protect Yourself. Get Screened Today." campaign. The largest Pink Hard Hat Ribbon ever was formed in New York City at Alexandria Center for Life Science. A $110,000 check, the result of individual donations and contributions, was presented to Gilda's Club NYC by executives from EMCOR/Penguin and Alexandria Real Estate Equities. Lily Safani, CEO, Gilda's Club NYC, accepted the check and participated in the event. Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney from New York's 12th Congressional District spoke at the event. A strong supporter of breast cancer early detection and screening, congresswoman Maloney authored the Breast Cancer Early Detection Act which became law in l997 and provides annual mammogram screening tests for women on Medicare. She is currently the author of the Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coin Act to raise more money to fund breast cancer research. Miss USA 2014, Nia Sanchez also participated in the event, and was honored to speak and have the opportunity to continue spreading awareness as part of her platform as Miss USA on Breast and Ovarian Cancer awareness. At the event, a Pink Hard Hat plaque was presented by Paul Shields, CEO, EMCOR/Penguin to Lily Safani and John Cunningham, Sr. Vice President, Alexandria Real Estate Equities. "We're delighted to be participating in EMCOR's 6th consecutive year of conducting this national initiative," stated Paul Shields, CEO, EMCOR/Penguin. "The enthusiasm for this program continues to grow, and we've received feedback regarding the positive impact our awareness efforts have had on decisions to go for a screening - we know EMCOR is making a difference. Our field employees wear a hard hat every day for personal protection, and we're proud of their commitment to wear a Pink Hard Hat during October to help raise awareness of the importance of screening." A leading contractor in New York City, Penguin is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME), a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, industrial and energy infrastructure, and building services for a diverse range of businesses. 2014 is EMCOR's 6th consecutive year raising awareness for breast cancer screening through its signature Pink Hard Hat Ribbon Events; through October EMCOR is creating 6 giant human Pink Hard Hat Events coast-to-coast in conjunction with its clients. Additionally, thousands of EMCOR employees across the U.S. are wearing EMCOR Pink Hard Hats at scores of construction sites, ranging from hospitals, roadways, malls, and high tech companies, to universities, military bases, and hotels. Also, EMCOR's 7,000+ service vehicles will carry Pink Hard Hat posters reaching millions of people throughout October.
